MAAT [Series]

A$780.00

The MAAT Museum sits along the Tagus River in Lisbon — an undulating tiled surface that seems to belong to the water as much as the land. From the outside, it is one of the most quietly extraordinary buildings in Europe.

This series was made on a single afternoon in October 2022. What the photographs capture is not the architecture as spectacle. It is what happens when a human figure enters the frame.

The scale of the building makes people look small. Not diminished — revealed.

There is something clarifying about standing beside something that dwarfs you. The MAAT series is built around that feeling: the strange comfort of finding yourself insignificant inside something made by human hands. Architecture as a mirror held up to proportion. The manufactured expanse that reminds you where you are in the scale of things.

These are photographs for rooms that ask questions. For people who want art that doesn't immediately explain itself.
