The backwaters move at a different pace from the rest of the world. Flat water, slow boats, green in every direction. If you are still enough, the line between the surface of the river and the sky almost disappears.
From Kerala with Peace was made during a boat passage through the waterways of Alleppey on a day that carries its own particular atmosphere of pause. The series holds that pause. It is not dramatic. It is not colourful in the obvious sense. It is quiet in the way that some places are quietly unforgettable — the kind of scene you find yourself returning to without quite knowing why.
Kerala in December has a specific light: soft, even, slightly golden in the early hours. The water holds it gently. The photographs hold it the same way.
These are works for rooms that need stillness. Bedrooms, reading corners, spaces where the pace of ordinary life slows down for a moment.
A print that asks nothing of the viewer except to stay with it.
